The end of the 2025-2026 school year was a whirlwind of wonderful! We had an awesome Step Up Day with OES 4th graders, put on a graduation ceremony to send our 8th graders off to Lake Region, released the brook trout that 7th and 8th graders raised in the science classroom, participated in The Memphremagog Floating Classroom (6th & 7th Grade), visited the Shelburne Museum (5th Grade), enjoyed a performance put on by 7th graders, celebrated our Trimester II award winners, and capped it all off with the best Field Day! We know there was a lot of trepidation going into this year with so many changes but we are so grateful to hear from the students that the first year of the BCS middle school was a success and look forward to making it even better next year. Groups of teachers will be hard at work over the summer attending conferences, completing additional coursework, and planning meaningful middle school opportunities for our students. We hope everyone enjoys their summer! Relax, recharge, and we will see everyone in August.

An Update from BCS Takes on DC: Students are on their final full day touring the city. They spent time exploring the many museums the city has to offer and then enjoyed an evening tour of the monuments on the National Mall. Tomorrow, they will head home with a stop at Six Flags on the way!

🇺🇸🚌 OCSU 8th Graders take on Washington, D.C.! 🏛️
Here they are seen on their visit to Capitol Hill.

Federal funding is based on participation, so every meal served helps strengthen and sustain the program for the families who count on it most. The more kids and families who participate, the more welcoming and “normal” the program becomes, helping remove the stigma that can sometimes keep people away. Summer meals are for everyone 18 and under, and every person in line helps make that message louder and clearer. Please help spread the word and help us build a stronger, more connected community this summer!

Our final Friday Fun of the year will be taking place on June 5th! Sign ups are available now. There will be games, pizza, community, and more! Families are more than welcome to join us for the event to celebrate a fun year of After School Activities.

Brownington Central School hosted OCSU's first ever Middle School Math Olympiad on Monday, May 18th. Albany and Glover Middle School each sent their teams to compete. It was a close competition as students from each team showcased their mathematical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills across grade levels. Our BCS team earned the win and are now the holders of the Math Olympiad plaque! We will be ready to defend our title at next year's competition! Our team members are: Mackston Lane, Victoria Salzmann, Gemma Powers, Roan Smith, Jacob Wells, and Landon Robillard and coached by Mrs. Riendeau and Ms. Shea. We are so proud of these students and the effort, enthusiasm, teamwork and mathematical thinking they brought to this new district wide event.

So may wonderful end of year events happening all around OCSU this season! BCS students participated in the OCSU Music Fest at Glover last weekend. Students from all three middle schools gathered to perform in band and chorus.

On Friday, BCS hosted its Annual Variety Show! It was an incredible opportunity for our students to showcase their many, many talents. We had a wide variety of acts—everything from singing and playing instruments to poetry reading to rhythmic gymnastics and tap dancing. It was a night full of courage, joy, and community. Thank you to the students who were brave enough to share their talents and who supported one another on and off the "stage." A special thanks to Ms. Emily (and Ms. Berry) for their help organizing, providing equipment, and inspiring students to try new things! It was a super fun evening.

Did you know that fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins that help your body grow strong and stay healthy? Try to “eat the rainbow” by choosing fruits and vegetables of different colors each day. Each color provides different nutrients your body needs. Carrots are rich in vitamin A, which helps keep your eyes healthy and supports good vision—especially in dim light!
