This week, we would like to give a special shout-out to our District Head Nurse, Julie Rose. Julie has been a wonderful addition to our district and continues to make a positive impact each day. She consistently prioritizes the well-being of both students and staff, most recently through the collaborative planning of our district-wide 4-week wellness initiative.
Julie also organized First Aid, CPR, and AED training opportunities for staff across all OCSU schools. She genuinely cares about our community, is thoughtful and reflective in her work, and continually seeks opportunities for growth and improvement.
In addition to her professional contributions, Julie is an active member of the Glover Barton Community Club as a parent of a Glover student. Thank you, Julie, for everything you do for OCSU and Barton Graded School. Your dedication, care and hard work do not go unnoticed.

Even though Bryanne Marquis was recognized with a staff shout-out back in February, Wednesday, April 22 was Administrative Professionals Day, and it gave us another wonderful opportunity to recognize and celebrate all that she does for Barton Graded School.
Bryanne does so much behind the scenes to help Barton Graded School run smoothly each and every day. From keeping our daily attendance and dismissal procedures organized and efficient to taking the lead in coordinating special field trips and student events, her dedication makes a difference for both staff and students.
Most recently, Bryanne created a fun balloon backdrop for kindergarten registration photos, helping make the experience extra special for our newest students and families. She also manages our school website and Facebook page, regularly sharing the many great things happening throughout our school community. In addition, Bryanne prepares certificates for our monthly assemblies to recognize our CUBS of the Month, assisted with organizing and preparing literacy and math night kits for families, and helped put together special VTCAP testing kits for our students. Her attention to detail and willingness to support every aspect of school life make a tremendous impact on our school community.
Thank you, Bryanne, for all of your hard work, positivity, and commitment to supporting Barton Graded School. We appreciate all that you do!

Did you know that fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins that help your body grow strong and stay healthy? Try to “eat the rainbow” by choosing fruits and vegetables of different colors each day. Each color provides different nutrients your body needs. Carrots are rich in vitamin A, which helps keep your eyes healthy and supports good vision—especially in dim light!

Thanks to the 2nd & 7 Foundation, each student received their very own copy of Little Lily’s Legacy—a meaningful story that promotes kindness, teamwork, and giving back.
To make this experience even more memorable, Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrabel has shared a special video for students to follow along as they read. What an incredible connection between literacy and inspiration!
Be sure to ask your child about the story and enjoy reading together at home! 💙🏈

In literacy, we read Dancing Through Space by Lydia Lukidis and illustrated by Sawyer Cloud. This inspiring biography tells the story of Dr. Mae Jemison, the first woman of color to travel into space. We read the book the day before the Artemis rocket launch, making the experience even more exciting!
During science, students watched clips of the Artemis launch as well as footage from Dr. Jemison’s historic 1992 mission. After seeing photos and videos of her, one amazed student exclaimed, “You mean she is real!”—a powerful moment that brought the concept of a biography to life. We even watched as she suited up for her journey into space.
In art, creativity soared as students designed their own rockets, transformed photos of themselves into astronauts, and painted moons for our bulletin board.
It has been an unforgettable, cross-curricular adventure that sparked curiosity, creativity, and inspiration. The sky is not the limit—it’s just the beginning! 🌕✨🚀 We plan to watch clips of the landing next week.
